Position Title: Area Manager

Reports To: Head of Sales

Employment Status: Full-Time

Vacancy: 01

Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh (Frequent travel outside Dhaka required)

Experience: 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in sales and marketing, preferably in MNCs

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Mechanical Engineering background will be additional advantage

Job Context

To lead and implement strategic sales and marketing initiatives in assigned areas to achieve business growth and market share targets for the company’s products. Provide strong leadership to the sales team and foster sustainable business relationships with stakeholders.

 MAJOR ACTIVITIES

 

Driving Sales and Achieving Targets

 · Develop and implement sales plans to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.

·  Drive sustainable growth through innovative sales and marketing strategies tailored to area-specific dynamics.

·  Identify and expand business opportunities through effective channel and retail strategies.

·  Achieve volume, gross profit (GP), and market share goals in line with the Annual Business Plan.

Trade Marketing and Brand Visibility

·  Spearhead trade marketing initiatives to enhance brand presence and market penetration.

·  Design and execute marketing campaigns to strengthen the company brand across the region.

·  Ensure optimal merchandising and visibility of the company’s products at retail outlets.

 

Team Leadership and Development

 · Train, mentor, and motivate Territory Sales Officers (TSOs) and Sales Officers (SOs) to achieve excellence.

· Set strategic guidelines for the team to align with company objectives.

· Facilitate performance reviews and ensure the professional growth of team members.

 

Customer and Market Engagement

· Organize retailer and end-user engagement programs to build strong relationships and loyalty.

· Coordinate with distributors to optimize inventory management and ensure timely product availability.

· Collect and analyze market data, including competitor activities, to develop proactive strategies.

 

Strategic Planning and Analysis

 · Analyze consumer trends and market gaps to identify growth opportunities.

·  Coordinate with principal teams to ensure competitive product pricing and availability.

·  Regularly review sales performance by brand, channel, and SKU to inform strategic decisions.

·  Assess the impact of marketing activities to refine future strategies.

 

MAJOR CHALLENGES

  • As the position requires frequent travel outside Dhaka, managing time and resources across a wide geographical area can be challenging. It may be a challenge to cover many regions while ensuring the team stays focused on sales goals.
  • Meeting ambitious sales targets, especially in new and emerging markets, can be a significant challenge. The ABM must constantly push for growth in existing territories while also tapping into new business opportunities.
  • Leading and motivating a team of Territory Sales Officers (TSOs) and Sales Officers (SOs) can be a challenge, particularly in ensuring consistent performance and retaining top talent.
  • Maintaining an optimal inventory level, especially across a wide region, can be difficult.
  • Company’s brand visibility and trade marketing efforts need to be effective across all retail and distributor touchpoints, which can be challenging when dealing with multiple markets.
  • Given the diversity of regions outside Dhaka, the ABM may face challenges related to understanding local business practices, customer preferences, and regional nuances.
  • Leading a geographically spread-out team requires seamless communication to ensure everyone is aligned with business objectives. Managing remote teams, especially when traveling frequently, can create challenges in maintaining clarity and motivation.

 

KEY DECISIONS

  • Decide on the specific sales tactics and approaches for different regions to meet target volumes and market share.
  • Approve and implement pricing strategies and promotional activities based on market conditions and competition.
  • Make decisions regarding team structure, personnel development, and performance evaluations of Territory Sales Officers (TSOs) and Sales Officers (SOs).
  • Identify and decide on new market opportunities and potential areas for business development.
  • Approve the appointment of new distributors and make decisions on the performance management of existing distribution channels.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE   

Educational Qualifications:

  • Educational Qualifications:

  • Relevant Experience: 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in sales and marketing, preferably in MNCs
