Job Title: Assistant Manager – VAT
Job Summary: The Assistant Manager – VAT is responsible for assisting the VAT Manager in managing
and overseeing all aspects of Value Added Tax (VAT) compliance and reporting for the organization.
This role involves ensuring accurate and timely preparation and submission of VAT returns,
conducting VAT audits, providing guidance on VAT-related matters, and staying up-to-date with
changes in VAT regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1.VAT Compliance: Assist in ensuring compliance with VAT regulations by reviewing
transactions, invoices, and accounting records to identify VAT implications and ensure
accurate VAT treatment.
2.VAT Return Preparation: Prepare and review VAT returns, ensuring accurate calculation and
reporting of VAT liabilities or refunds. Submit VAT returns within the prescribed deadlines.
3.VAT Audit: Assist in conducting periodic VAT audits to assess compliance and identify any
areas of improvement or risks. Collaborate with internal and external auditors during VAT
audits.
4.Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain comprehensive documentation and records
related to VAT transactions, returns, and audits. Ensure all supporting documents are
organized and readily accessible for audit purposes.
5.VAT Research and Guidance: Stay updated with changes in VAT regulations, guidelines, and
rulings. Research complex VAT issues and provide guidance to the finance team and other
stakeholders on VAT-related matters.
6.Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance VAT compliance
processes. Collaborate with the VAT Manager to implement process improvements and
automation tools to increase efficiency and accuracy.
7.Stakeholder Communication: Communicate with various internal stakeholders, such as
finance teams, tax advisors, and department heads, to provide guidance on VAT matters,
address queries, and resolve issues related to VAT compliance.
8.Training and Awareness: Conduct training sessions or workshops to educate employees on
VAT regulations, policies, and procedures. Foster awareness and understanding of VAT
requirements across the organization.
Qualifications and Requirements:
∙Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. A professional accounting
qualification (e.g., ACCA/CA/VAT professional) is preferred.
∙Prior experience in VAT compliance, taxation, or a similar role is required.
∙In-depth knowledge of VAT regulations, guidelines, and principles.
∙Strong analytical skills to review financial data and transactions for VAT implications.
∙Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel for VAT calculations and analysis.
∙Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis and reporting.
∙Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
∙Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
∙Up-to-date knowledge of changes in VAT regulations and a proactive approach to continuous
learning.
